Former Alabama tennis players Alexa Guarachi and Erin Routliffe lost to the Czech Republic’s Katerina Siniakova and Barbora Krejcikova, 2-6, 6-2, 2-6 in the round of 64 at Wimbledon on Thursday. Siniakova and Krejcikova are the No. 3-seeded team in the women’s doubles tournament and won the French Open in June.
Guarachi and Routliffe earned a spot in the main draw with two win in qualifying last week. They beat Priscilla Hon and Arantxa Rus in the first round, 6-3, 7-5, before defeating Anna Kalinskaya and Viktoria Kuzmova 6-4, 6-4, to earn their spot in the field of 64 teams.
