GSTAAD, Switzerland — Former Alabama women’s tennis standout Alexa Guarachi won her first Women’s Tennis Association Doubles Title after she and partner Desirae Krawczyk defeated Lara Arruabarrena (Spain) and Timea Bacsinszky (Switzerland) in the finals of the Ladies Championship Gstaad, 4-6, 6-4, 10-6, on Sunday in Gstaad, Switzerland.
The tournament marked the first time Guarachi and Krawczyk played doubles together. They defeated four opponents before winning the title.
At Alabama, Guarachi earned multiple All-America and All-SEC honors and 109 victories in singles, the most singles wins recorded by a player in Alabama history. She wrapped up her doubles campaign with teammate Courtney McLane with 69 wins, which tops the Tide’s all-time doubles list.
