KINGSTON SPRINGS, Tenn. – Alabama golfers Kristen Gillman, Lauren Stephenson and Jiwon Jeon remain in contention at the 2018 U.S. Women’s Amateur after posting match play wins in the Round of 64 on Wednesday at the par-71, 6,365-yard Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs, Tennessee.

Gillman, who began match play as the 24th seed, recorded a 3-and-2 victory over Chinese Taipei’s Ting Hsuan Huang. Gillman will face No. 9 seed Janet Mao, who plays collegiately at Northwestern, in the Round of 32 at 7:30 a.m. CT Thursday.

The 34th-seeded Stephenson birdied her final hole Wednesday to take a 1-up decision over Australia’s Stephanie Bunque. Stephenson will meet No. 2 seed Hyun Selin of South Korea on Thursday at 8:20 a.m.

Seeded, 35th, Jeon needed an extra hole to defeat Ty Akabane of Danville, California. Jeon will face third-seeded Olivia Mehaffey of Arizona State on Thursday at 9 a.m. Mehaffey and Jeon were teammates on the World squad at this summer’s Palmer Cup.

Thursday’s morning winners will return to the course in the afternoon for the Round of 16 to determine Friday’s quarterfinalists. Coverage of Thursday’s action will begin at 3 p.m. CT on FS1.
