Alabama rowing will host two regattas in the spring to highlight its 2018-19 schedule The Crimson Tide will host Eastern Michigan on March 2 and Jacksonville and Creighton on March 30 on the Black Warrior River.

“We have assembled a schedule that should give us several opportunities to check our progress throughout the season,” new UA coach Glenn Putyrae said. “I believe this schedule presents a good balance of challenge and opportunity and will prepare us well for the championships.”

Alabama will open at the Head of the Oklahoma event Sept. 29-30 in Oklahoma City, and visit Chattanooga, Tenn., for the Head of the Hooch on Nov. 3-4.

After its first home spring event, Alabama will compete in Oak Ridge, Tenn., on March 16-17 in the Cardinal Invite and return to the same location for a dual meet with Tennessee March 23, the first-ever meeting between the two programs in rowing.

After its March 30 home regatta,, Alabama will visit Sarasota, Fla., on April 5-6 and Clemson, S.C. on April 19-20. Alabama will close out the regular season April 27 against SMU in Dallas.

The SEC does not sponsor rowing. Alabama will compete in the Big 12 Conference Championships May 18-19 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Alabama won three event bronze medals in last year’s Big 12 event.

Putyrae led Gonzaga to five West Coast Conference championships in seven years before coming to UA.
