Forward Chloe Maize is out indefinitely with a torn ACL in her right knee, Alabama coach West Hart confirmed Wednesday night.
The sophomore from Cleveland, Tennessee, went down in the 22nd minute of Alabama’s 6-0 win over Kennesaw State on Sunday.
“Certainly, it is a big loss,” Hart said. “Chloe is very talented player. We’ll miss her.”
Maize started all four of Alabama’s games this year and finished with one assist. The redshirt sophomore played in all 21 games last year, while making 15 starts. She scored two goals last year and was named SEC Freshman of the Week after her performance against Arkansas.
She tore her left ACL earlier in her career.
Freshman midfielder Riley Mattingly was one of the players that Hart mentioned when talking about Maize’s replacement. Hart said that she has mostly played inside for Alabama, but she’s played outside her whole club career.
“The good thing for us right now is that we’ve been playing a lot of players,” Hart said. “We’ve gotten a lot of players experience early in the season, so we feel confident that whatever adjustment we make we’ll be just fine.”
