MAYNOOTH, Ireland – The University of Alabama’s Kristen Gillman fired a 6-under par 67 on Saturday as the United States clinched the Women’s World Amateur Team Championship at the Carton House Golf Club in Maynooth, Ireland.
Gillman (74-65-72-67/278) shot 5-under par on the front nine Saturday with an eagle and four birdies against one bogey before adding a birdie on 13 to finish at -6. Gillman’s U.S. teammate Jennifer Kupcho turned in a 4-under par 67 as well to give the Americans a 10-under par round and a 29-under par tournament (142-130-143-136/551), good for a 10-shot victory over runner-up Japan (136-139-146-140/561).
The Americans won the Espirito Santo Trophy for the 14th time. Their last victory was in 1998.
