BUENOS AIRES – Alabama swimmer Rhyan White took fourth place in the 200-meter backstroke at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games Tuesday night.

White’s 2:10.95 in finals was a career-best swim and a new Alabama school record, bettering the UA mark of 2:12.21 she set in prelims. Altogether, the Herriman, Utah, native shaved more than four seconds off the previous Tide mark.

The Crimson Tide freshman was less than a quarter of a second out of earning the bronze medal in the race and less than a second out of the gold during the third day of the Games being held in Buenos Aires, Argentina this week.
