OXFORD, Miss. — The Alabama women’s tennis team finished play at the ITA Southern Regional Championships in Oxford, Miss., on Sunday.
Senior Andie Daniell and sophomore Moka Ito dropped a hard-fought match in the semifinals of the doubles draw, against No. 31 Bortles/de Jong (Ole Miss), 6-2, 7-6(5).
In singles, No. 70 Daniell fell in the quarterfinals to No. 53 Sabina Machalova (Ole Miss), 7-6(5), 6-2. In consolation play, junior Jacqueline Pelletier suffered a narrow defeat to Ivone Alvaro (Tulane), 6-1, 3-6, 13-11.
Alabama hosts the annual Roberta Alison Classic starting Oct. 26, wearing pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness month.
