GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Alabama dropped a three-set decision Sunday to No. 11 Florida on the road, falling by set scores of 23-25, 18-25 and 16-25.

Alabama (15-6, 2-5 SEC) lost a close two-point opening set to 11th-ranked Florida (17-3, 8-0 SEC) but the Gators won the remaining two by increasing margins of seven points, 25-18, and nine points, 25-16. Junior Hayley McSparin led the Crimson Tide’s offensive effort with nine kills out of the middle, while senior Quincey Gary finished the match with five digs, putting her four away from fourth place on the Tide’s career digs list.

Alabama faces Mississippi State at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
