Alabama’s Sam Fischer played two singles matches in the qualifying rounds of the ITA Southern Regional Championships on Thursday at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
Fischer fell in the first round to Giovani Pasini (UAB), 6-3, 6-1, and then to Panji Untung Setiawan (Southern Miss), 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7) in consolation. Fischer will play another consolation match Friday against Michael Durham (Auburn) beginning at 9 a.m.
Qualifying finals matches will also be played Friday, along with three doubles matches set to start on Friday at 4 p.m., including Edson Ortiz and Riccardo Roberto.
