AUSTIN, Texas – Alabama junior Kenzie Wright fired a 1-under par 71 and is tied for second place following the first round of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational on Friday.
Wright’s round helped lead the Crimson Tide to fifth place after the opening round at +14 (302) at the par-72, 6,491-yard University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas. Host Texas (291) is the first round leader at +3. Kent State (294) is second at +6, followed by Florida (295) at +7, SMU (300) at+12 and the Tide to round out the top five.
Sophomore Angelica Moresco is tied for 14th at +2 after an opening round 74. Junior Jiwon Jeon is tied for 20th at +3 (75). Freshman Mary Mac Trammell made her collegiate debut on Friday and rounded out the team scoring for Alabama, tying for 63rd at +10 (82).
Alabama will be paired with SMU and Baylor in Saturday’s second round. Play is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. CT.
