The University of Alabama’s Edson Ortiz and Riccardo Roberto advanced the second round in doubles at the ITA Southern Regional Championships on Friday. The tournament is being hosted by the Crimson Tide this weekend at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
The Alabama duo defeated Guillermo Agost/Aljaz Kaplja of Jacksonville State 8-7(3) and will take on Tulane’s Tyler Schick and Hamish Stewart on Saturday at 9 a.m.
Also on Friday, the Tide’s Sam Fischer lost his singles consolation match against Auburn’s Michael Durham, 6-4, 6-2.
Saturday’s schedule includes two rounds of main draw doubles at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. and one round of main draw singles at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
