PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of Alabama’s Jeremy Gschwendtner, a sophomore, defeated Joaquin Marquez, 6-1, 6-2, in the second round qualifier at the USTA $15k Futures at the Roger Scott Tennis Center in Pensacola, Fla., on Saturday.

Gschwendtner will play Matias Destefanis in the third round of the qualifier on Sunday. He needs two win to make it to the tournament’s main draw.

Two more Alabama tennis players are in Oklahoma where they begin the singles qualifying round Sunday at the USTA $25k Futures. Those include senior Mazen Osama and junior Alexey Nesterov.
