Alabama gymnast Bailie Key underwent a medical procedure Tuesday and will be out for the season, UA coach Dana Duckworth revealed Friday night before the Crimson Tide’s season opener.

“As we go through this process with Bailie, we are solely focused on her short- and long-term health,” Duckworth said.

Key, a sophomore from Texas, competed on the balance beam once for the Crimson Tide last year during the team’s season opener. She scored a 8.475.

Alabama opened up its 2019 season with a home quad meet. It posted a 194.75 to defeat Northern Illinois’ 193.325, Temple’s 191.925 and Southeast Missouri’s 187.8. The Crimson Tide returns to Coleman Coliseum next Friday for another quad meet, this time featuring Michigan, Denver and Bowling Green.
