PALOS VERDES, Calif. — The Alabama women’s golf team opened the spring campaign on Sunday at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, carding an opening round score of 307 on the par-71, 6,017-yard Palos Verdes Golf Club. The Crimson Tide will enter the second round in a tie for 12th overall in the 16-team field, which features nine teams ranked on the Golfstat.com top-15 and 13 among the top-35 teams in the nation.

Alabama, ranked fifth in the nation in Golfstat’s spring season rankings, was led on the day by junior Jiwon Jeon, who carded an opening round of 2-over par 73 and is in a tie for 11th overall entering Monday’s second round. Sophomore Angelica Moresco is also among the top-20 individuals after day one, shooting a 4-over 75 to end the round in a tie for 17th position.

Junior Kenzie Wright is in a tie 30th with an 18-hole total of 5-over par 76, while freshmen Carolina Caminoli (83) and Mary Mac Trammell (84) round out the Crimson Tide starters.

Second round action begins Monday with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. CT. Alabama will be paired alongside No. 8 Arizona State, No. 19 Washington and No. 20 Florida State.
