TROY – The Alabama softball team remained undefeated after a pair of wins Saturday at the Trojan Classic, earning a 10-0 run-rule victory over Maryland before a back-and-forth 16-10 slugfest win against Murray State.
Alabama (4-0) was led by Maddie Morgan against Maryland. She went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and five RBIs. Junior transfer pitcher Sarah Cornell (1-0) made her Crimson Tide debut, throwing five shutout innings and allowing just two hits.
Reagan Dykes had a two-run single and Bailey Hemphill knocked in a run on a single.
Against Murray State, Alabama trailed 10-7 in the sixth inning, the offense came alive, scoring nine runs on 10 hits for the 16-10 advantage.
Hemphill went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a home run to account for seven of the Crimson Tide’s 16 RBIs. KB Sides and Kaylee Tow combined to go 7-for-9 with eight runs scored and four RBIs.
The Tide bullpen used three pitchers, with junior Krystal Goodman (2-0) getting the win in relief.
Alabama wraps up its weekend at the Trojan Classic on Sunday against Troy (1-1) at 12:30 p.m. CT.
