The Alabama track and field teams have advanced 13 student-athletes to the NCAA Championships, which will be March 8-9 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham.
Sophomore Tamara Clark earned spots in in the 60 and 200 meters and as part of the 4×400-meter relay. She is the Crimson Tide’s top seed on the women’s team, checking in at No. 4 in the 200 meters after posting a career-best 22.90 to win the event at last weekend’s Southeastern Conference Championships.
Juniors Takyera Roberson and Katie Funcheon and senior Mauricia Prieto round out the 4x400m relay. Seniors Portious Warren (shot put), Kiara Williams (long jump) and Stacey Destin (pentathlon) are also headed to the NCAA championships.
On the men’s side, junior Shelby McEwen is the No. 1 seed in the men’s high jump after posting a career-best leap of 2.31 in the middle of the regular season. Seniors Kord Ferguson (shot put), Keitavious Walter (200 meters), Gilbert Kigen (5,000 meters) and Vincent Kiprop (5,000 meters), along with freshman Bobby Colantonio Jr., also earned berths at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
