COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Alabama women’s tennis team (10-5, 0-2 Southeastern Conference) fell 4-0 to the No. 24 Texas A&M Aggies (14-1, 2-0 SEC) Sunday at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
The Aggies won the doubles point thanks to a 6-1 decision on court three, Riley McQuaid and Lucia Quiterio defeated juniors Ann Selim and Kimberley Gintrand. The Crimson Tide’s Andie Daniell and Moka Ito fell 7-6(3) to Jayci Goldsmith and Tatiana Makarova.
Texas A&M took five of the six first sets in singles action. Dorthea Faa-Hviding won 6-0, 6-3 over Gintrand. Renee McBryde defeated Selim, 6-2, 6-4, and McQuaid clinched the team victory for the Aggies with a 6-0, 6-3 decision on court five.
Alabama begins its SEC home slate at 5 p.m. Friday, when it faces No. 25 Kentucky at 5 p.m. CT.
