The Alabama men’s tennis team moved up three spots to No.17, and registered player rankings in both singles and doubles, in the latest Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Rankings released Wednesday.
Senior Mazen Osama remained in the top-40 at No. 36 in singles, and as a doubles team Osama and sophomore Patrick Kaukovalta check into the rankings for the first time this season at No. 17.
For the season, Osama holds a 9-4 mark in dual match play, all at first singles. Six of his opponents in those matches have been ranked, the most recent victory came over the weekend against Texas A&M’s No. 121 Juan Carlos Aguilar, 7-5, 6-2.
Doubles partners Osama and Kaukovalta have tallied a 7-3 record overall and are 7-3 in dual matches as well, all at first doubles.
This season in dual play, Alabama is 11-3 overall and 1-1 in Southeastern Conference play, including wins over then-No. 18 LSU and then-No. 23 Michigan in Tuscaloosa. The Tide opened conference play at 1-0 for the first time since the 2016 dual match season, before falling to Texas A&M 5-2 on Sunday.
Next up, Alabama will travel to Lexington, Ky., to face No. 44 Kentucky for its first SEC road match on Friday. The match is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. CT.
