GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Alabama men’s golf team is in a tie for seventh place after collecting an opening round score of even par 288 on Friday at the 2019 Linger Longer Invitational. It was the Crimson Tide’s lowest score this spring and will come into the second round of play just six strokes out of second place.
Playing in his first tournament of the spring season, junior Josh Sedeno led Alabama with a 2-under par 70 to end the round in a tie for 13thoverall. The Roseville, Calif., native finished with three birdies and just one bogey during his round on the par-72, 7,073-yard The Landing at Reynolds Lake Oconee course.
Sophomores Wilson Furr and Jake DeZoort both shot even par and are tied for 25th overall, while freshman Frankie Capan III finished at 2-over par 74 and is in a tie for 41st entering Saturday’s second round. Freshman Prescott Butler, who led the Tide at last week’s Querencia Cabo Collegiate, rounds out the UA golfers with an 83 on Friday.
Louisville, ranked 25th in the nation, finished the day at 10-under par 278 and will carry a four-shot lead over No. 21 Liberty (282) and UNC Greensboro (282) into Saturday. Ohio State (285) and No. 15 Georgia (285) round out the top-five teams after the opening 18 holes of play.
