COLUMBIA, S.C. — The 43rd-ranked Alabama women’s tennis team fell to No. 3 South Carolina, 4-0, Sunday afternoon at the Carolina Tennis Center.

The Gamecocks collected the first doubles victory of the contest, as Megan Davies and Kennedy Wicker edged juniors Kimberley Gintrand and Ann Selim, 6-2, on court three. The Crimson Tide responded with a win of its own on court two, as juniors Alba Cortina Pou and Luca Fabian topped Paige Cline and Rachel Rohrabacher, 6-2. South Carolina went on to clinch the doubles point in the next match that finished to take a 1-0 match lead headed into singles, as No. 2 Ingird Gamarra Martins and Mia Horvit moved past senior Andie Daniell and sophomore Moka Ito 6-2.

In singles, South Carolina won three-straight matches at No. 6, No. 3 and No. 2 to clinch the match. Wicker topped Selim in straight-sets, 6-0, 6-0, on court six, and soon thereafter, No. 96 Horvit defeated Cortina Pou, 6-2, 6-1, on court three. For the win, No. 27 Cline defeated Ito, 6-2, 6-3, on court two to finalize the match.

Alabama will begin its final homestand of the season when it plays hosts to the Arkansas Razorback on Friday. The match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. CT.
