The Alabama softball team has the No. 1 seed for this week’s Southeastern Conference tournament.

It’s Alabama’s highest seed since the 2015 tournament when it was No. 3.

The Crimson Tide has a bye for the first round of the tournament in College Station, Texas, and plays the winner of the Arkansas-Georgia game at 4 p.m. Thursday.

The last time Alabama (50-6, 18-6 SEC) was the No. 1 seed for the SEC tournament was 2014, when it lost in the semifinals to Georgia.

The Crimson Tide is tied with LSU for the league lead with SEC tournament titles with five (1998, 2003, 2005, 2010, 2012).

The sweep of LSU this past weekend notched the 50th win of the season for Alabama. It’s the highest regular-season win total since 2007 (51). The most wins in a season for the Crimson Tide is 66 in 2000.
