ORLANDO, Fla. – Senior No. 36 Andie Daniell dropped her match, 6-0, 6-1, to No. 1 overall seed Estela Perez-Somarriba of Miami (Fla.) in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championships on Monday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. With the loss, Daniell closes out her stellar four-year career with the Crimson Tide.

After falling in the first set, 6-0, Daniell could not climb back as she trailed 3-0 in the second set before winning her first game, to make it 3-1. Perez-Somarriba closed out the match by winning the final three games and will move on to the second round of the tournament on Tuesday.

Daniell finishes her four-year Alabama career tied for No. 8 all-time in career singles wins with an 86-41 record. In her senior season, Daniell was named First Team All-SEC for the second consecutive year, while being tabbed the ITA Southern Region Senior Player of the Year. The Douglasville, Ga., native also finished the season with a 24-10 singles record.
