PARIS – Former Alabama women’s tennis All-American Alexa Guarachi is set to play in her fourth consecutive Grand Slam after being selected to the 2019 French Open women’s doubles draw with partner Tamara Zidansek. The first round of the women’s doubles tournament will begin on Wednesday, May 29 at the Stade Roland-Garros in Paris, France. The first round matchups and times are yet to be announced.

Guarachi most recently moved up to No. 68 in the Women’s Tennis Association Doubles Rankings, her highest ranking of her professional career and the best ranking of any Alabama women’s tennis alumna. As an American-born Chilean player, she is also the No. 1 doubles player in South America. She moved up in the rankings when she won her 21st career doubles title after coming out victorious in the $100k Bonita Springs ITF Event with former Alabama women’s tennis player, Erin Routliffe on May 12.

In the last year, Guarachi has played doubles in Wimbledon, the U.S. Open and the Australian Open. Guarachi is seeking her first doubles win in a Grand Slam after making three first round exits in her first three appearances.
