There are several big recognizable names at the WCWS this year: All-American’s Giselle “G” Juarez (P, Oklahoma), Kelly Barnhill (P, Florida) and Alabama’s own Bailey Hemphill (first base).
And then there are a few peculiar names on the WCWS rosters. Washington boasts a few players with interesting names, like freshman infielder Silentrain Espinoza. The Huskies have one player with a perfect name in freshman outfielder Madison Huskey. Also for Washington is first-team All-American Sis Bates.
For Arizona there is freshman catcher and infielder Izzy Pacho, and for UCLA, junior utility player Bubba Nickles is an All-American, although she is quite well-known in the softball world. She was named the 2015-16 Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year.
Two players for Oklahoma State are a newspaper headline writer’s dream: freshman outfielder Chyenne Factor and sophomore pitcher Gabby Sprang.
