Alabama’s Jorja Macrae earned All-America honors from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) it was announced Friday.
With the honor, the sophomore becomes the first Crimson Tide rower to earn All-America recognition in the program’s 13-year history. The Whataroa, New Zealand native rowed with Alabama’s First Varsity 8+ and led the Tide to its first national ranking during the season.
The Crimson Tide also had eight rowers earn a place on the CRCA National Scholar-Athlete list, led by senior Raien Emery, who became Alabama rowing’s first CoSIDA Academic All-American in June. Emery was joined by Sydney Boles, McKenna Clark, Ilaria Earl, Sarah Giuliani, Corinne Guay, Darcy Jennings and Rachel Sowell. The Tide’s total of eight ranks in the top-25 nationally.
The National Scholar-Athlete honors requires that a rower maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career and be a sophomore or better in class standing.
