DALTON, Ga. – The No. 21-ranked University of Alabama men’s golf team finished Friday’s opening round of play at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in sixth overall of 15 teams after carding a team score of 8-over par 296.
The Crimson Tide will enter the second round six shots back of second place and 12 shots behind clubhouse leader No. 3 Georgia Tech (284).
Wilson Furr had Alabama’s low round, shooting even par, 72, to place in a tie for seventh. Thomas Ponder is in a tie at 14th at 1-over par, 73. Tyler Lipscomb is 3-over, 75, and tied for 30th. Frankie Capan III shot 76 and is 40th, and Simms Abney shot 81 and is in 75th.
