MELBOURNE, Australia – Former University of Alabama women’s tennis player Alexa Guarachi and doubles partner Kaitlyn Christian won their first-round main-draw match at the Australian Open, defeating Irina Bara and Ekatarina Alexandrova, 6-1, 6-2 to advance. They were scheduled to play the tournament’s No. 7 seed on Thursday night. Guarachi is ranked No. 54 in the world in doubles.
