TROY – The University of Alabama baseball team and Troy traded leads on numerous occasions throughout the game on Tuesday night, with the outcome eventually falling in favor of the Trojans, 12-11, on a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth.
Tuesday’s game was played at Troy. Weather pending, the two teams trade venues on Wednesday with Troy coming to Tuscaloosa to play at Alabama (13-16) on Wednesday.
The two teams combined to score at least one run in eight of the nine innings. Alabama and Troy combined for 23 runs on 25 hits. The Trojans’ one run in the bottom of the ninth proved the difference.
The Crimson Tide offense was highlighted by Hunter Alexander, who finished 3-for-4 with two home runs, three RBIs, two runs scored and a walk. Also closing out the night with three RBIs was Chandler Avant, who finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Cobie Vance contributed a pair of hits as part of his 2-for-5 day, with an RBI and a run scored, while Tanner DeVinny notched his fourth home run of the season.
