To start the season, the Alabama softball team plays in several tournaments, either in Tuscaloosa or on the road. After that the Crimson Tide plays a three-game SEC series on the weekend with a midweek, nonconference game in between.
During those midweek games, Alabama is dominant. You have to go back to 2014 for the last Crimson Tide loss in a midweek game. And even that loss was to an SEC team (Auburn), which didn’t count in the conference standings. Alabama’s record in that span was 34-1.
For Alabama’s last loss to a non-SEC opponent in a midweek game, you have to go back to 2012 when Georgia State left Tuscaloosa with a 5-1 win.
The April 10 midweek opponent — Georgia State.
The Crimson Tide is coming off back-to-back loses against South Carolina. It’s the first time this season Alabama didn’t win an SEC series.
Alabama’s next SEC series is with Georgia this weekend at home. The Crimson Tide won just one out of three games with the Bulldogs last season.
