CLEARWATER, Fla. – Alabama had the potential go-ahead run at the plate in the bottom of the sixth but the late rally fell just short as Oklahoma State edged out Alabama, 4-1, Saturday afternoon to close out play at the St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational.

Alabama (4-5) fell behind after Oklahoma State (5-3) scored a pair of runs in the third and fourth innings. In the bottom of the sixth, the Crimson Tide looked to rally loading the bases with one out. A bases-loaded walk to junior Maddie Morgan pushed a run across but an inning-ending double play ended the rally. The Cowgirls added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh and Alabama stranded a runner on in the home half of the inning with the final score as 4-1.

Senior Bailey Hemphill was 1-for-2 with a walk, stretching her reached-base streak to seven games.

Freshman Lexi Kilfoyl pitched 4.0 relief innings with two runs allowed on four hits with six strikeouts, ending the weekend with five runs allowed, four earned, with 16 strikeouts across 14.2 innings pitched.
