The rest from Western Carolina week did some of Alabama’s injured players good. Others may need a little more.

– All four of the players that missed the Western Carolina game — defensive linemen Phidarian Mathis (undisclosed injury), Raekwon Davis (sprained ankle), D.J. Dale (twisted knee) and wide receiver Henry Ruggs III (bruised ribs) — were on the practice field during Monday’s media viewing period. Dale was not participating in reps, but the other three were.

– Saban said kicker Will Reichard (hip flexor) remains out. He was seen kicking a styrofoam ball with no run up in the media viewing period; the slow path to a return Saban laid out for Reichard remains in tact.

– Also in the media viewing period, freshman running back Trey Sanders was doing rehabilitation work with a trainer. Sanders suffered a foot injury in preseason practice that was expected to keep him out for the entire season. Sanders was far from full speed, but this was the first time he’s been on the practice field during the media viewing period since the injury.
