After setting the University of Alabama records for receiving yards (274) and receiving touchdowns (five) in a game, wide receiver DeVonta Smith has been named the Walter Camp Player of the Week, the SEC Offensive Player of the Week and an offensive player of the week by the UA coaching staff.
Joining Smith as an offensive honoree from UA’s 59-31 win over Ole Miss were quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and offensive lineman Jedrick Wills Jr. Wills did not miss an assignment, helping Tagovailoa throw for 418 yards and five touchdowns and run for one more.

The defensive honorees were outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings and safety Xavier McKinney. Jennings had nine tackles, one for a loss; McKinney became the first UA player with 13 tackles in a game since the 2014 Iron Bowl, when Trey DePriest and Nick Perry both did it. Perry is now an assistant defensive backs coach for Alabama.
The special teams honoree was Ale Kaho, after he blocked a punt and caught it in the end zone for Alabama’s first non-offensive touchdown of the season. One of his four tackles came on kickoff coverage, as well.
