Sarah Fuller: 5 things to know about the Vanderbilt football kicker, women's soccer goalie

Vanderbilt football announced Friday that senior Sarah Fuller would dress for the Commodores' football game against Missouri on Saturday, Nov. 28. She is getting the opportunity after COVID-19 contact tracing has left Vandy with "a limited number of specialists."
She took the field to kick the second-half kickoff, and Fuller became the first woman to play in a Southeastern Conference football game.

Sarah Fuller to wear No. 32 for Vanderbilt football
The Vanderbilt football team and Sarah Fuller both tweeted photos Friday afternoon of her in a No. 32 Vanderbilt football uniform. She is also listed as No. 32 on the Vanderbilt football roster.
She'll also have the phrase "Play Like A Girl" on her helmet. Fuller explained on Twitter that Play Like A Girl is "a nonprofit that encourages girls to play sports and get exposure to STEM opportunities."
The photo Fuller tweeted showed her sitting with a soccer ball between her feet. She said in the tweet, "Let's make history."
Vanderbilt football tweeted, "History in the making."
She also wore No. 32 for the Vanderbilt women's soccer team.

Sarah Fuller stats for Vanderbilt women's soccer
Sarah Fuller started nine of the 12 games Vanderbilt women's soccer played during the fall 2020 season. She recorded shutouts in three of those games, and the team went 7-2 with her in the net.
She helped Vandy women's soccer capture the 2020 Southeastern Conference Tournament title.
Her first career start came against South Carolina on Oct. 11, 2020, and she made six saves in the game.
Before the fall 2020 season, Fuller played one game as a junior in 2019 and one game as a sophomore in 2018.
Sarah Fuller, soccer teammates wore Black Lives Matter warm-up shirts
The Vanderbilt women's soccer team wore T-shirts during warm-ups for several games this fall that said "Black Lives Matter" across the front of the black shirts.
The Vanderbilt women's soccer Twitter account showed the team wearing the shirts as recently as its games Nov. 19 against Texas A&M and Nov. 17 against Tennessee.
It tweeted a photo of Fuller wearing the shirt before her first career start against South Carolina on Oct. 11, 2020.
Tennessee Titans, Nashville SC praise Sarah Fuller
The Tennessee Titans and Nashville SC both sent tweets Friday praising Sarah Fuller.
The Titans said, "It's your time, @SarahFuller_27! First woman to play in a Power Five college football game. LET'S GO!"
Nashville SC said, "From the pitch to the gridiron, history will be made tomorrow. Nashville's club is rooting for you, @SarahFuller_27."

Sarah Fuller plans to leave Vanderbilt for North Texas
On Nov. 13, North Texas women's soccer announced that Sarah Fuller signed to joined the Mean Green in 2021.
Fuller said in a tweet at the time, "I am very excited to head to North Texas next fall to get my Master's in Hospital Administration and continue my soccer career with an incredible program! #GMG."
North Texas women's soccer coach John Hedlund said when Fuller signed, "A big part of our championship success at UNT has always been having a great keeper in goal for us throughout my time here. Sarah brings that presence with her experience as the starter for Vanderbilt this season and playing in the SEC. ... We're excited to have Sarah for the next two years working on her master's degree here at UNT. Welcome home!"
Fuller's hometown of Wylie, Texas, is about 50 miles from Denton, Texas, which is where the University of North Texas is located.
