Alabama men's basketball guard Josh Primo went down with an apparent left knee injury in the second half of the 2021 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament against Mississippi State on Friday afternoon.

With just over 12 minutes left in the quarterfinal, Primo was taken off the floor and helped into the tunnel at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Primo grabbed his left knee when he went down, shouting in pain. He was unable to get up without assistance.

Primo will not return for Friday's game against Mississippi State, according to an update made with just over four minutes left in the game. Primo got an X-ray, and is continuing to get treatment.

Alabama coach Nate Oats told ESPN after the game "it's something with the knee," but that's all that is known right now.

Alabama guard Joshua Primo (11) is examined after an injury during the second half of the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament game against Mississippi State at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., Friday, March 12, 2021.

"I think they're taking him to Vanderbilt ... Hopefully, it's not a whole lot and we can get him back soon."

In the postgame press conference, Oats said he still doesn't know about Primo yet.

"Hopefully, he can play tomorrow (against the Florida-Tennessee winner)," he said. "Hopefully it's not much. We’ll wait on that MRI."

The Toronto-native scored 8 points and played for 19 minutes before he left the court.
