Punter Charlie Scott no longer on 2021 Alabama football roster
Graduate transfer punter Charlie Scott is no longer included on Alabama football's 2021 online roster as of Sunday evening.
The NCAA's waiver for all athletes to receive an extra year of eligibility because of COVID-19 would allow Scott to play one more year for the Crimson Tide. He is in a special situation, though. To play and attend graduate school at Alabama this past year, Scott had to receive excess leave from the Air Force, where he punted for three seasons.
Scott participated in spring practices and A-Day this spring. But Scott also was one of the seniors honored during senior day in 2020.
In nine games with Alabama, Scott averaged 39.2 yards per punt with nine inside the 20 and one punt that traveled 50 plus yards. He's the younger brother of former Alabama punter JK Scott, the school's all-time record holder for career punting yards and attempts.
Remaining punters on the roster are Ty Perine and Sam Johnson. Perine played in six games as a freshman in 2019 but did not play in 2020. Johnson appeared in four games in 2020.
The Crimson Tide also added transfer punter Jack Martin recently. Not listed on the official roster yet, Martin finished 2020 with a 46.1 average on punts with 13 inside the 20 and a long of 66 yards for Troy.
