Three things to know about Alabama gymnastics star Makarri Doggette before NCAA Championships

Ahead of the 2022 NCAA Gymnastics Championships, Alabama junior Makarri Doggette will be helping the Crimson Tide attempt to improve upon last season's fifth-place finish. Here's what to know about Doggette:

Battling through injury

Doggette suffered an injury after an awkward fall on the floor exercise against Georgia on Feb. 11, leaving her unable to finish the routine. While she's made her return to the lineup, she has been limited to uneven parallel bars.

All-American performer

Despite the injury, Doggette still managed to make an impact. She was named an All-American and an All-SEC performer on bars. The 2022 season is the third straight season she was named an All-American.

SEC champion

Last season, Doggette also took home an SEC championship on bars when she scored 9.95 in Huntsville at the league meet. This season, she came up short defending her title, losing to Auburn's Suni Lee.
