Alabama baseball swept by South Carolina, loses third straight SEC series

The Alabama baseball team was swept by South Carolina  at Founders Park in Columbia, S.C. It was the third consecutive series loss for Alabama. 

The Crimson Tide (25-20, 9-12) lost 6-5 on Thursday, lost 2-1 on Friday and 11-5 on Saturday. South Carolina improved to 22-20, 9-12 in SEC play.

Alabama lost to Tennessee and Georgia in its most recent series after sweeping Ole Miss.

Heres what we learned from the weekend: 

Garrett McMillan struggles for second week in a row

For the second week in a row, Alabama pitcher Garrett McMillan struggled in his outing. McMillan allowed five runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Of the five hits McMillan allowed, three were South Carolina home runs, allowing for the Gamecocks to get on the board with ease.

Home Runs becoming an issue for Crimson Tide

The Crimson Tide pitching staff allowed five home runs in three games. South Carolina's home runs came from up and down the lineup. The Gamecocks hit three on Thursday, one Friday and one Saturday.

Jim Jarvis comes alive

Jarvis, a shortstop who hit leadoff in the series, registered four hits and an RBI to lead the Alabama offense. Jarvis, however, had little hitting support from his teammates.

Alabama baseball will be back in action at home vs LSU on Friday to open a three-game weekend series against the Tigers.
