Alabama football lands Perry Thompson, 2024 receiver from Foley, Julio Jones' alma mater

Alabama football has its first class of 2024 commitment.

Foley wide receiver Perry Thompson committed to the Crimson Tide Friday.

The 6-foot-3, 202-pound junior receiver was offered by Alabama on June 13 and visited Alabama again on June 18. He does not yet have a rating.

Thompson also has offers from UAB, Troy, Southern Miss, Alabama A&M, Georgia Southern and Austin Peay.

Foley is also the high school alma mater to former Alabama star and NFL wide receiver Julio Jones. Thompson had 45 receptions for 565 yards and one touchdown in 2021. He also played basketball and did track and field for Foley.

Alabama landed a commitment from Northridge class of 2023 offensive lineman Wilkin Formby this week. The Tuscaloosa native is the No. 83 recruit in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite.

Formby, a Tuscaloosa native, picked Alabama over Ole Miss, Oklahoma and Tennessee. He previously Formby eliminated Auburn.

Formby is Alabama's first Tuscaloosa signee since Hillcrest product Brian Robinson Jr. in 2017. Alabama has five commits in the class of 2023 and had the No. 2 class of 2022 behind Texas A&M's record-setting group.
