Three Alabama football players named to Walter Camp's preseason All-America team

The Walter Camp Football Foundation announced on Monday that Alabama football players Bryce Young, Will Anderson Jr. and Eli Ricks made its 2022 preseason first team All-America roster.

Young, who earned a 2021 Walter Camp Second Team All-America selection, won the 2021 Heisman Trophy, AP College Football Player of the Year, the Maxwell Award and the Davey O'Brien Award. He threw for 4,872 yards, 47 touchdowns and seven interceptions that helped the Crimson Tide win the SEC championship and make it to the College Football Playoff championship game.

Anderson received the 2021 Bronko Nagurski Trophy and 2021 SEC Defensive Player of the Year. He had 17.5 sacks, 101 tackles, 31 tackles for loss and three pass deflections. He was a unanimous 2021 All-American, and he made it to first team All-SEC.  

Ricks transferred to Alabama in December from LSU. He had one interception and one pass deflection through six games last season. In 2020, he made second team All-SEC and third team All-American.

Troy football linebacker Carlton Martial also made the preseason second team All-America roster. He recorded 126 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, two sacks, two pass deflections, one interception and one forced fumble last season.

The Walter Camp selected its first All-America team in 1889.
