DeVonta Smith: 4 things to know about the Alabama football wide receiver
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — Alabama football has four receivers on the Biletnikoff Award watch list. One of which is wide receiver DeVonta Smith, who broke the school record for single-game receiving yards against Mississippi in Week 5.
The Biletnikoff Award recognizes college football's outstanding receiver.

DeVonta Smith played rock paper scissors with Jerry Jeudy for route dibs
Neither Jeudy nor Smith got the ball on the next play.
As explained afterward by Henry Ruggs III, the game is meant to determine who's going to run the route most likely to catch a touchdown.
Smith holds the Alabama single-game receiving touchdowns record
Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith broke the school's record for single-game receiving touchdowns with five against Ole Miss, and it only took him one half to do it
Smith obliterated the previous record of three touchdown catches, which was held by multiple players and last achieved by Washinton NFL wide receiver ArDarius Stewart against Mississippi State on Nov. 12, 2016.
Smith also passed Dallas Cowboys receiver Amari Cooper for most receiving yards in a game.
Smith accounted for 274 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns in Alabama's 59-31 win over the Ole Miss Rebels.
Smith was a five-star recruit
Smith was an elite wide receiver prospect out of Amite, Louisiana.
He was ranked a five-star prospect by Scout and 247Sports, ranked No. 26 nationally in the Scout 300 and the No. 3 wideout in the nation.
Smith chose Alabama over LSU, Miami, Oklahoma, and TCU.
Smith returned a kickoff 93 yards in state title game
Smith earned the Most Outstanding Player award in the 2016 LHSAA Class 3A football state title game.
He returned a kick 93 yards for a touchdown, caught eight passes for 111 yards and had an interception on defense.
It wasn't enough as Smith's Amite team lost to Lutcher 40-36, according to The Advocate.
