Britton Johnson: 3 things to know about the Alabama men's basketball guard

When Britton Johnson gets in a game for Alabama men's basketball, it usually means a win for the Crimson Tide. 

The 2020-21 season is Johnson's third with the Crimson Tide, and of the first 18 games that he played during his Alabama career, the Tide won 16 of those contests. 

He made his Alabama debut against Southern University to start the 2018-19 season. Johnson scored his first points with a 3-pointer against Iowa State on Nov. 28, 2019.

Britton Johnson is an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts

Britton Johnson received the rank of Eagle Scout from the Vulcan Eagle Board on July 14, 2016, according to Village Living

His Eagle Scout project was to build a series of benches at Crestline Elementary School in Mountain Brook, Alabama. Johnson named the area The Jerome Lewis Outdoor Classroom. It was named for the former Crestline janitor Jerome Lewis, who died of cancer while Johnson was completing the project. 

As a member of Boy Scout Troop 63, Johnson earned 23 merit badges. He held the roles of patrol leader, senior assistant patrol leader, and den chief. 

Britton Johnson, LSU's Trendon Watford were high school teammates

LSU forward Trendon Watford is a year younger than Britton Johnson, so the two played three years together at Mountain Brook High School. 

Playing together they provided an inside-outside threat. 

Johnson set the Alabama Class 7A single-season record for 3-pointers made with 104 during the 2017-18 season, according to Alabama. Watford broke the Alabama state record with 1,909 career rebounds and ranks top 10 in Alabama by scoring 3,567 career points, according to the AHSAA

Britton Johnson won 2 high school basketball state titles

The Mountain Brook boys basketball team captured Alabama Class 7A state titles in 2016-17 and 2017-18 when Britton Johnson was a junior and senior in high school. Those would be the first two of three consecutive state titles for Mountain Brook. 

As a senior, Johnson averaged 9.0 points and 2.2 rebounds with 45% accuracy on 3-pointers, according to Alabama. The 2018 season concluded with a 73-49 win against McGill-Toolen Catholic in the state title game.

Mountain Brook went 65-9 during Johnson's final two years.
