Keon Ellis knows he has a striking resemblance to rapper Quando Rondo

"I've been called Quando Rondo in the middle of games before," Ellis said in an interview with Alabama basketball. "It made me laugh during the middle of the game." 

Ellis has come on strong late in his first season with the Alabama Crimson Tide. He started in both the semifinals and finals of the 2021 Southeastern Conference Tournament

Keon Ellis stats at Florida SouthWestern State College

Keon Ellis transferred from Florida SouthWestern State College to Alabama ahead of the 2020-21 season. He played guard for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. 

Ellis scored a school-record 41 points against St. Petersburg on Jan. 4, 2020. He averaged 18.1 points as Florida Southwestern State went 29-2 in 2019-20. The team qualified for the 2020 NJCAA National Tournament, but it was not played. 

He received NJCAA Second Team All-American honors in 2020. Ellis earned 2020 Suncoast Conference Player of the Year and first-team all-conference. 

As a freshman in 2018-19, Ellis averaged 8.3 points per game. He earned second-team all-conference as a freshman. The team went 30-3 and lost in the quarterfinals of the 2019 NJCAA National Tournament

As a senior in 2017-18, Keon Ellis scored 25 points with seven rebounds, five blocked shots, two assists and two steals in the Class 6A state title game, according to the Orlando Sentinel. He lifted Leesburg to a 71-62 win over Tallahassee Rickards. 

That gave Leesburg its second straight state title and completed a 29-1 season.

Ellis averaged 12.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists during his senior season. He earned Florida Association of Basketball Coaches Class 6A First-Team All-State honors in 2018 to go with FABC Class 6A second-team all-state honors as a junior in 2017. 

Keon Ellis' brother Antwon Clayton played basketball at Jacksonville

Keon Ellis' brother Antwon Clayton played forward at Jacksonville from 2014-18. 

The 6-foot-6, 200-pound Clayton averaged 4.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists during his 100-game college career, according to Basketball-Reference. He earned a spot on the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman Team in 2014-15. 

Tony Jasick was the Jacksonville coach throughout Clayton's career, and the Dolphins went 58-72 during Clayton's four-year career.
