Former Phoenix Sun Charles Barkley announced Thursday that he is self-quarantining and awaiting coronavirus test results.

Charles Barkley went to Auburn.

But for now, he's an Alabama men's basketball fan.

Barkley picked the Alabama Crimson Tide to reach the Final Four in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

He even allowed himself to yell "Roll Tide" before Alabama's game against Iona in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Barkley played basketball at Auburn from 1981-84 before playing in the NBA from 1984-2000.

This is quite a change for Barkley, who was Auburn's biggest cheerleader on the way to the 2019 Final Four.

No. 2-seeded Alabama enters its first-round game 24-6 overall. Most recently, Alabama beat LSU 80-79 in the Southeastern Conference Tournament championship game on Sunday.

No. 15 seed Iona comes into the matchup 12-5 overall. On March 13, Iona beat Fairfield 60-51 in the MAAC Tournament championship game.

Entering Saturday, Alabama leads the all-time series 1-0 vs. Iona. The previous meeting was in 1989.
