The way the Alabama men's basketball team shot the ball against Maryland on Monday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament caught the attention of a notable former Alabama football player.

Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith tweeted a GIF of a marksman loading a guy while directed the tweet @AlabamaMBB.

Around the time Smith tweeted the GIF, Alabama basketball had hit 14-of-27 3-pointers and 26-of-48 shots overall.

About five minutes before the GIF, Smith tweeted, "LIGHT IT UP!!! @AlabamaMBB"

Smith won the Heisman Trophy earlier in 2021 and helped Alabama football win the 2021 College Football Playoff Championship. He is expected to be a high pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Alabama defeated Maryland 96-77 on Monday.

The Crimson Tide made 16-of-33 3-pointers for the game and 35-66 shots overall.

No. 2-seeded Alabama improved to 26-6 overall. No. 10 seed Maryland ended its season 17-14 overall.

After Monday, Maryland leads the all-time series 4-2 vs. Alabama. The teams last met in 2013.
