The "ESPN College Football Podcast" adopted a new format for the 2021 season with analyst Kirk Herbstreit featured each Monday on the podcast.

This week, Herbstreit had a discussion with college football studio host Matt Barrie, and Saturday's Alabama vs. Miami Hurricanes game came up.

Alabama and Miami are scheduled to play at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday in Atlanta.

The game is the season opener for both teams.

Kirk Herbstreit predicts Alabama beats the Miami Hurricanes.

"New quarterback in Bryce Young, you got new running backs, a lot of new receivers," Herbstreit said of Alabama. "'Bama is going to be relying early on old-school 'Bama —dominant defense and playing smart on offense. I think because of that, I don't see a blowout. I think (quarterback) D'Eriq King and Miami can hang around, and I think they can be competitive. I think 'Bama wins the game, but I think the 'Canes can compete."

As of 3 p.m. CT on Monday, Alabama is an 18.5-point favorite against the Miami Hurricanes, according to Tipico Sportsbook

"I think that is just laughable for Week 1 with all the points that you just brought up," Barrie said of the point spread.
