Alabama football cornerbacks coach Jay Valai was hired by Oklahoma as co-defensive coordinator and pass defense coach.

"Alabama has been awesome and Nick Saban is the G.O.A.T. I learned so much working under him and we have a tremendous relationship," Valai said. "He and Miss Terry have been amazing to my family and me. But to get the opportunity to be closer to home working for an Oklahoma program I grew up watching while living in Dallas and to work with Brent and be a cook in the kitchen with him is special. I'm excited. It's beyond a blessing to be part of Sooner Nation."

Earlier on Tuesday, Valai posted an apparent goodbye message on to his Twitter thanking the Alabama program

Valai had just finished his first season in Tuscaloosa, helping the Crimson Tide rank seventh nationally in total defense. The Crimson secondary had 15 interceptions and 45 pass break-ups. Cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis earned All-SEC second team honors this season.
