Alabama football landed a key in-state 2023 target when Hunter Osborne, a four-star defensive lineman from Hewitt-Trussville, announced his commitment Monday.

Osborne, the No. 130 recruit in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite, selected Alabama over Tennessee, Clemson and Texas.

He is Alabama's first defensive line commit and brings the class total to 17. Osborne, 6-foot-4 and 260 pounds, is rated the nation's No. 18 defensive lineman and the No. 12 in-state recruit.

He's an important addition after Alabama missed on Peter Woods, a five-star prospect from Thompson, who committed to Clemson on July 8. Woods is rated as the No. 3 defensive lineman in the nation.

Osborne finished with 74 tackles, 15.5 for loss, 5.5 sacks, 16 hurries and nine pass deflections as a junior. Alabama junior defensive back Malachi Moore is a Hewitt-Trussville grad.

Alabama and coach Nick Saban last week added five-star Georgia safety Caleb Downs and five-star Florida running back Richard Young, rated the No. 2 running back in the nation.

The Crimson Tide have four five-star commits, including defensive backs Tony Mitchell and Jahlil Hurley.

Gardendale four-star defensive lineman Kelby Collins, the No. 70 prospect in the country, is another Alabama 2023 in-state target who wants decide soon.
