Alabama football has made its first addition to its No. 1 class of 2023 in over two months.

Four-star receiver Jaren Hamilton of Gainesville, Florida, announced his commitment to Alabama in a letter to the Gainesville Sun. Hamilton, the nation's No. 261 recruit and No. 34 receiver according to the 247Sports Composite, is Alabama's 24th commit.

He had 38 catches for 847 yards and 14 touchdowns, two interceptions and one kickoff return touchdown during F.W. Buchholz' first 12 games this season.

Hamilton, 6-foot-1 and 188 pounds, chose Alabama over Florida, Michigan, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and USC. Tight ends coach Joe Cox is Hamilton's primary recruiter and receivers coach Holmon Wiggins is his secondary, according to 247Sports.

"It’s just my comfort level with the coaches, their play style, everything with the school when I went there on my visit," Hamilton wrote in the Gainesville Sun. "It didn’t feel like foreign territory. It felt like home."

Hamilton is the first Alabama 2023 commit since Jalen Hale, four-star receiver and top-50 recruit, announced his pledge in September. Alabama secured most of its class of 2023 commitments during a busy summer for the recruiting staff.

Hamilton took an official visit to Alabama for the Iron Bowl and an unofficial visit to the Texas A&M game.

He joins receivers Hale, No. 1 juco recruit Malik Benson and Oklahoma four-star receiver Cole Adams in the 2023 class.
