SEC Power Rankings: Georgia looks more like pit bulls in guarding top spot
It's Georgia football and everyone else in the SEC, if the Bulldogs' rout of South Carolina on Saturday is any indication. But everybody else still has a place in the league, and the daunting task of assigning those places is ours.
This week, that means some separation in the Magnolia State between Ole Miss and Mississippi State, which were ranked back-to-back at No. 6 and 7 until coach Mike Leach's offense blew a tire in Baton Rouge.
On to the rankings:

This week: vs. Northern Illinois
What to know: We're a quarter of the way into the regular season, and the Wildcats defense has allowed just two touchdowns. Stoops magic is real.

Last week: 11

10. Mississippi State
Last week: 7
This week: vs. Bowling Green
What to know: Of a crucial muffed punt in a loss to LSU, Leach said "I think I could do it if I practiced for two weeks." Who wouldn't want to watch that?
Last week: 10
This week: vs. Missouri
What to know: An ugly loss to Penn State won't be what gets coach Bryan Harsin canned, but the death march has officially begun.
12. South Carolina
Last week: 12
This week: vs. Charlotte
What to know: Georgia 48, South Carolina 7? Spencer Rattled, and so did the rest of the Gamecocks.
Last week: 14

What to know: It's the little things that get you dropped to the bottom after a win. Like being blown out by a Kansas State team that loses to Tulane a week later.
